Retail businesses invest heavily in Business Intelligence to understand buying habits and patterns so as to maximize sales. Many retailers have discovered that name, address and telephone number data can be a critical part of their overall Business Intelligence strategy – they already know what gets purchased, knowing who is doing the purchasing and being able to market directly to them is the next logical step.
Often the best opportunity for mining the contact data is at the actual point of purchase but asking the customer for all of that information and then keying it into a system is awkward, time consuming, error prone and may put the purchaser off.
LSSiDATA provides a solution where a telephone number is used to populate the name and address fields in a Point of Sale POS application. By obtaining the telephone number and entering the ten digits the POS system is able to programmatically access LSSiDATA data sets either from the retailer’s own data center (if the retailer is using LSSiDATA Data Feeds) or directly from LSSiDATA (using the LSSiDATA Universal Gateway). Either method can provide access to the National Directory Assistance database, the Wireless database or LandLine Plus – or best, all three – so that the name, address and telephone number of the customer can be integrated into the underlying Business Intelligence system.
